Job applicants will be invited to an Awareness Day where they will be given more information about Kanes and specifically the vacant position. This allows Kanes to assess the suitability of applicants and also for applicants to understand Kanes requirements.

New members of staff will initially attend an Induction Day. This will teach about health and safety issues, food safety, hygiene and food quality. They will then be allocated a ‘training buddy’ who will ensure they have the necessary guidance and support for those first couple of days in a new job.

The Training Development Department will monitor people’s careers and staff will receive periodic appraisal reports so they are aware of their progress. They will be encouraged to apply for promotions when they become available and supported if successful.

Sous Chef Job Duties:

•Leads kitchen team in chef's absence
•Provides guidance to kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation
•Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients
•Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
•Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
•Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and standard
•Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
•Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
•Coordinates with management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing

As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:
Have a good level of numeracy & literacy (Essential)
Experience working on a busy production line (Desirable)
Reliable and punctual (Essential)
